FireFox20CloseTabButtons

Firefox 2.0 has moved the close tab button from the right side of the tab bar, into each tab. I find I often close a tab I didn't want to by clicking the close button by mistake.

  1. Goto about.config
  2. Filter for browser.tabs.closeButtons
  3. Change number to 3.
  4. The change will take place right away. Close the window

Note that some plugins that change the tabs might mess with this.

Other Options

  • 0 - Display a close button on the active tab only
  • 1 - Display a close button on each tab (default)
  • 2 - Don’t display any close buttons
  • 3 - Display a single close button at the end of the tab bar (Firefox 1.x behavior)
